Why Jewish camping?
According to the Foundation for Jewish Camp, research indicates that a positive experience in a quality Jewish camp correlates with decreases in intermarriage and an increase in Jewish identity, affiliation and practice.  By connecting more Jewish youth to Jewish summer camps, THE ASSOCIATED hopes to further strengthen the Jewish identities of Jewish youth in the Baltimore community, as well as strengthen their participation within congregations, the JCC and other Jewish organizations.

About 2009 Baltimore's Jewish Overnight Campership Program
In 2009, THE ASSOCIATED: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore and the Foundation for Jewish Camp will grant $1,000 incentives to Jewish youth who have never attended a Jewish overnight camp for more than three weeks. View the eligibility criteria for 1st year campers for 2009.  Deadline for submission is January 31, 2009.

Campers who received the incentive grant in 2008 and return to overnight Jewish camp for three weeks or more in 2009 will be eligible to receive a second year grant of $750. Information on how to apply for second year incentive grants will be sent directly to the families of the campers who are eligible to apply.

Our Goal

The goal of this incentive program is to increase the number of Jewish children attending Jewish overnight camps who might otherwise choose a secular summer experience. The program is not to be looked upon as financial assistance but as an incentive to choose the richness and warmth of a Jewish overnight camp experience.
