Our sages tell us, "Bishveel nashim tzidkaniot nigalu avoteinu mimitzrayim," which means, "Our forefathers were redeemed from the land of Egypt for the sake of righteous women". We can continue in the paths of our ancestors by getting involved in our own community today.
For young women who wish to further their Jewish communal education and grow as leaders in the Jewish community, the Women's Department offers Dor Tikvah: Generation of Hope, a two-year leadership development program. The program enhances skills through:
Dor Tikvah participants attend ten meetings during each of their two years in the program; each meeting focuses on one of ten themes, including personal leadership styles, the Baltimore Jewish community, women and Judaism, and tikkun olam (repair of the world)—taking into account each group's individual interests and input. As future leaders of the Jewish community, members of Dor Tikvah are also asked to make an Annual Campaign contribution. As they are exposed to many areas of the Jewish community, members are encouraged to create a personal leadership track. Many Dor Tikvah graduates then go on to become leaders of THE ASSOCIATED and its agencies and throughout the Jewish community. To get involved in Dor Tikvah, contact Pam Martin at 410-369-9201, or pmartin@associated.org. Learn more about leadership development opportunities. Jewish Professional Women's InitiativeThe Jewish Professional Women's Initiative has attracted a vast array of professional women— from lawyers and judges to doctors and teachers. We welcome women who wish to share their intellect and time with other women, to network—both personally and professionally—to mentor others or seek mentors themselves, and to actively engage in tikkun olam (repair of the world) through fulfilling volunteer projects. Programs include special sessions on careers, relationships, health, education, community and spirituality, as well as Jewish study groups and a career mentoring program with schoolchildren.
