2010 Baltimore Jewish Overnight Campership Program

The Baltimore Jewish Overnight Campership Program is an initiative of the Foundation for Jewish Camp being administered by THE ASSOCIATED: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore. The program provides financial incentives of $1,000 to eligible first-time campers, entering grades 2–12, who attend a nonprofit Jewish overnight summer camp listed on the program’s website for at least 19 consecutive days.

Our Goal
The incentive program is aimed at increasing attendance at nonprofit Jewish overnight camp by Jewish children who might otherwise select a secular summer experience. The program is not to be looked upon as financial assistance, but as an incentive to choose the richness and warmth of a summer at Jewish overnight camp.

Why Jewish camping?
According to the Foundation for Jewish Camp, research indicates that a positive experience in a quality Jewish camp correlates with decreases in intermarriage and an increase in Jewish identity, affiliation and practice.  By connecting more Jewish youth to Jewish summer camps, THE ASSOCIATED hopes to further strengthen the Jewish identities of Jewish youth in the Baltimore community, as well as strengthen their participation within congregations, the JCC and other Jewish organizations.
