“Leadership is communicating a vision with honesty and integrity to inspire and
empower others.”

Leadership Development Program Chairs, 2009

THE ASSOCIATED’s Center for Community Engagement & Leadership strives to strengthen and enrich the Baltimore Jewish community by engaging individuals in meaningful opportunities for volunteer involvement and advancement. THE ASSOCIATED accomplishes this mission by engaging, training, educating and placing volunteers in positions throughout the community.

THE ASSOCIATED develops and implements a variety of intensive, hands-on leadership programs designed for adults and teens. These programs, which generally run September-May, educate emerging leaders about THE ASSOCIATED, its agencies and the greater Jewish Baltimore, and provide participants with an array of leadership development skills. Upon program completion, individuals will be prepared to hold vital volunteer roles within the ASSOCIATED system, Jewish Baltimore and the Baltimore community-at-large.

Chapter Two: a ten-month education program, Chapter Two is designed for women who are at the stage in their lives when they can dedicate themselves to what’s next for them as Jewish women. Participants learn about themselves, are educated about THE ASSOCIATED and our agencies, take part in experiential learning and hands-on social action and, "capture their passion and turn it into action."

This program is a two-year commitment, with monthly meetings, held on weekday mornings. Through fundraising, educational programs, community service projects and agency observation experiences, Jewish women ages 25 to 45 develop an understanding of THE ASSOCIATED and our agencies, the importance of women’s philanthropy and leadership skills.
