The goals of the Jerold C. Hoffberger Leadership Enhancement Program (JHLEP) are to strengthen the students as individuals by teaching them life skills (e.g., Getting a Financial Life; Defining Your Leadership Style; and Planning Your Options Following Graduation); to educate them about their role as a member of a diverse community (e.g., Community Service: Improve Yourself by Helping Others; Leadership: The Name of the Game; and Understanding Power: The Minority Experience in the United States of America); and to broaden the students’ appreciation of the world by exposing them to the rich histories of African-Americans and Jews (e.g., Judaism: Its Tenets and Symbols; Israel: History, Politics and People; and The Relationship Between African-Americans and Jews).
