Our inaugural PGRT Breakfast Forum features two experts in the subtleties of family business and financial and philanthropic relationships. The keynote by Dr. Stephen R. Treat will address tips and techniques for advisors as they work with families, addressing factors and sensitivities that are specific to those dynamics. Lauren H. Klein will then lead a thought-provoking and interactive discussion on how advisors can have creative conversations about philanthropy with their clients. Finally, Dr. Treat will lead a discussion on business succession.

SPEAKER BIOS:

Dr. Stephen R. Treat is a Senior Therapist and former Director and CEO of Council for Relationships, the nation’s oldest and largest counseling agency. Dr. Treat works with individuals, couples, families and businesses to foster an understanding of how those systems work and how they can improve. Additionally, he speaks and consults with universities, schools, religious organizations and non-profits. He can be seen regularly on local television programs such as NBC10’s 10! Show, CBS3’s Talk Philly and local news programs. He has appeared on national television shows, such as the Today Show. He’s been featured on numerous radio programs, and is often quoted for newspaper and magazine articles. Dr. Treat has co-authored two books.

Lauren H. Klein is the Director of Family Philanthropy at THE ASSOCIATED’s Center for Funds & Foundations (CFF). She provides professional support and management to supporting foundation and philanthropic fund donors, with a particular focus on next generation funders. In addition, she oversee all aspects of CFF programming and publications. Her prior positions include endowment and major gifts fundraising with THE ASSOCIATED and other non-profit organizations.
