Marc B. Terrill
President
Marc B Terrill is the President of THE ASSOCIATED: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore. In his professional leadership role, Marc directs the day-to-day management and operations as well as the long-range planning for THE ASSOCIATED, with a primary emphasis on the development of human and financial resources. He is a graduate of the University of Florida and obtained his Masters in Social Work with a concentration in community organization from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University. Marc received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from the Baltimore Hebrew University. He also holds continuing education certificates in management and leadership from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania as well as from Harvard University. Marc is a graduate of the first class of the Jewish Federations of North America’s Mandel Executive Development Program in 1997, a program designed to prepare those who were identified as the “next generation” of Jewish non-profit chief executive officers. He serves on the boards of LifeBridge Health Systems, Baltimore Community Foundation, and Sinai and Northwest Hospitals, to name a few.
Michelle Gordon
Chief of Staff
Michelle Gordon currently serves as the Chief of Staff of THE ASSOCIATED after more than nine years with the organization. In this role, Michelle manages the Executive Office and governance issues including by-laws compliance, the Board of Directors and the Board of Governors. In addition, she coordinates THE ASSOCIATED’s Corporate Giving program and various other community relations projects.
Mark Smolarz
Chief Operating and Financial Officer
Mark is responsible for most of the infrastructure for THE ASSOCIATED which even extends to many of its constituent agencies including finance, human resources, facilities, technology, investments, risk management and community allocations. Mark started with THE ASSOCIATED in early 2004 as the Chief Financial Officer and has picked up these additional administrative responsibilities over time.
Michael Hoffman
Chief Planning and Strategy Officer
In this role, Michael is responsible for directing a $45 million annual allocations process; managing the ongoing relationship between THE ASSOCIATED and its beneficiary agencies, as well as providing for the on-going evaluation of programs and services provided by ASSOCIATED agencies.
Abe Wasserberger
Executive Vice President for Resource Development
Abe is responsible for planning and implementing all current and yet to be cultivated revenue streams beyond THE ASSOCIATED’S Annual Campaign. Abe came to the ASSOCATED in November, 2011 with vast experience in development in North America and throughout the World. Abe will develop and secure funding for projects that are critical to our community.
Michael J. Friedman, Esq.
Senior Vice President, Planned Giving and Endowment
Michael has been with THE ASSOCIATED since 1994, and has served as the Vice President and Senior Vice President for Planned Giving and Endowment since 1999. With a background in law and charitable gift planning, Michael oversees the Legacy and Endowment Department work in charitable gift planning and development of endowments, capital gifts, charitable remainder trusts, gift annuities, philanthropic funds and supporting foundations. He works with donors and their advisors to develop tax-wise gift plans that reflect the donor’s financial, estate and charitable planning goals, and, where appropriate, foster intergenerational succession.
Leslie K. Pomerantz
Senior Vice President, Development
Leslie has worked in THE ASSOCIATED system for over 20 years in a variety of capacities. As the Senior Vice President for Development, she oversees the annual campaign, ASSOCIATED Women, and human resource development efforts.
Allison Baumwald
Vice President, Women’s Philanthropy
Allison Baumwald currently serves as Vice President of Women’s Philanthropy for THE ASSOCIATED after more than eight years with the organization. In this role, Allison manages all aspects of fundraising for women in our community. She works closely with the Women’s Campaign Chair and manages a team of two full time ASSOCIATED Women professionals.
Michael J. Dye, Esq.
Vice President – Investments and Risk Management
Michael Dye is primarily responsible for oversight and management of Consolidated Investment Fund, a comingled pool of endowment assets belonging to THE ASSOCIATED, its agencies and other Jewish organizations. He also provides guidance and counsel on risk management, corporate governance, regulatory and tax issues for THE ASSOCIATED and its agencies.
Ben Gershowitz
Vice President, Facilities
Ben Gershowitz currently serves as the Vice President of Facilities for THE ASSOCIATED. Ben has been with THE ASSOCIATED for eight years. In his role, Ben is the property manager for THE ASSOCIATED’s Real Estate portfolio and acts as the owner’s representative for all construction projects. In addition, he works closely with executive management and community leadership to coordinate the planning and development for THE ASSOCIATED’s real estate holdings.
Melinda Greenberg
Vice President, Marketing
Melinda Greenberg is Vice President of Marketing; she joined THE ASSOCIATED’s marketing department in July 2006. The marketing department manages all aspects of marketing from advertising to media relations to social networking for internal departments of THE ASSOCIATED and collaborates with a majority of the agencies and programs in THE ASSOCIATED system on their marketing efforts. Prior to coming to THE ASSOCIATED, Melinda served as Director of Marketing and Communications at Baltimore Hebrew University, then an agency of THE ASSOCIATED.
Erica Hobby
Vice President, Community Engagement and Leadership
Erica Hobby serves as the Vice President, Community Engagement and Leadership of THE ASSOCIATED. Under Erica’s guidance, the department works to engage volunteers in meaningful opportunities, provide emerging leaders with ASSOCIATED education, leadership skills and Judaic knowledge necessary to hold key volunteer positions, and to place leaders within THE ASSOCIATED system and agency organizational structure.
Nancy R. Kutler
Vice President, The Center for Funds & Foundations
Nancy Kutler provides professional support to over 350 families that have supporting foundations or donor advised funds at THE ASSOCIATED. She oversees the provision of personalized support, grantmaking assistance, and educational programming to the federation’s fundholders. In her nearly 30 years of experience at THE ASSOCIATED, Nancy has also worked in the Community Planning and Allocations Department focusing on agency/ federation relationships, grants and special initiatives.
Linda G. Speert
Vice President, Endowment and Fund Development
Linda G. Speert, as part of the Legacy and Endowment Department team for more than a decade, works closely with individuals, families, and their financial advisors, to create charitable legacies through unrestricted bequests, Annual Campaign Endowments and other designated endowment funds. Additionally, Linda helps donors foster multi-generational philanthropy and consolidate their charitable giving through the creation of donor-advised funds.
Connie Stern
Vice President, Finance
Connie Stern is the Vice President of Finance at THE ASSOCIATED. Her responsibilities include overseeing the Finance Department which provides accounting, budget, bill pay, financial management, payroll, and tax and compliance services to THE ASSOCIATED, its operating programs and a number of its agencies. Centralizing all of these services creates economic efficiencies which helps THE ASSOCIATED in its pursuit of total system operating efficiency.
Carole Taylor
Vice President, Technology
Carole currently serves at the Vice President of Technology for THE ASSOCIATED after more than 10 years with the organization. Carole oversees all Technology for THE ASSOCIATED and its agencies including the Donor Customer Service Center. In this role, she develops and executes strategic plans to ensure technology continues to meet the changing needs of our organization.
Darlene Wolff
Vice President, Human Resources
Darlene Wolff is the Vice President for Human Resources and has been with the organization for over 27 years. In this role, she is responsible for the administration of a wide array of employee benefits, recruitment, employee relations and risk management. Darlene partners with the Human Resource Committee to maintain a competitive work place.
