Immersive, informal Jewish learning
Jewish identity building
Israel connection
What we could do:
Voluntourism
Giving back in Israel, through programs like Birthright and the Jewish Agency for Israel’s MASA, immerses young adults in Jewish culture and builds Jewish confidence and continuity. We will create new, hands-on volunteering opportunities in Israel in general, and in our sister city, Ashkelon, specifically, to build Jewish identity and community. Through “Beyond Birthright,” we’ll harness the passion of those who travel to Israel and focus it on local community through Happy Hours, intimate Shabbat dinners and other meaningful Jewish experiences.
Tu B’Av Love and Music Festival at Kayam Farm
This day-long celebration of love and music, featuring local and international artists, games and farm activities in a picturesque farm setting, attracts college students, young adults and young families. The program, held at the peak of the time when participants can appreciate the bounty of the farm, is an opportunity to use the environment and sustainability to inspire unaffiliated members of community. It’s a fresh, cutting-edge image of what Jewish Baltimore can be.
