Are you a creative teen who wants to make a difference? Join Teen Giving Initiative's thoughtful and dynamic group of teens for an introduction to the fundraising and grant-making process.
Learn how hands-on giving can influence the world!
Teen Giving Initiative (TGI), a program of Jewish Volunteer Connection, focuses on leadership, fundraising and grant-making skills. TGI Fellows develop their own fundraising initiatives and select focus areas to allocate their funds.
As a TGI Fellow, you will be part of an interactive leadership program and can look forward to these exciting opportunities:
- Raising money through fundraising initiatives
- Allocating funds to organizations about which you and your peers are passionate
- Training with grant-making experts about how to write and read grant applications
- Researching how non-profit organizations run
- Learning about local, national and international needs and services
- Visiting direct-service organizations to explore their effect on the community
- Gaining a deeper understanding of what THE ASSOCIATED does to raise and allocate funds in Baltimore and throughout the world
Requirements to become a TGI Fellow:
- Be a Jewish teen entering 10th or 11th grade during the 2012-2013 school year.
- Live in the Greater Baltimore area

TGI program components:
- Opening all-day Teen Leadership Retreat on Sunday, August 26th
- Nine leadership development seminars on Sunday evenings from 5:30-8:00 p.m.
- Overnight retreat in the fall at the Rosenbloom Owings Mills Jewish Community Center.
- Opportunity to plan and execute fund-raising initiatives
- Grant-making site visits
- Closing program for teens and parents in May 2013
Program fees help defray administration and program costs. Limited financial aid is available.
