When should I form a nominating committee?
The nominating committee may be an adhoc or standing committee. We suggest that you set up a standing committee (may be referred to as Board Development Committee, Governance Committee, Committee on Trustees) that begins to identify members in early summer so you have enough time to adequately prepare for the nominating process. Recruitment and cultivation of lay leadership is an ongoing process so it is helpful to have a set structure in place to cultivate these individuals.
