Chesapeake Teva – Outdoor School Medic

The Pearlstone Center 

 

The Pearlstone Center is seeking an Outdoor School Medic during two weeks of an educational program, Chesapeake Teva. Chesapeake Teva is a joyous overnight Jewish Environmental Education program for Jewish Day School students between 4th and 6th grade. The medic is responsible for the evaluation and delivery of quality first aid and comfort to students and teachers.

 

This individual must have current CPR and First Aid certifications. WFA, WFR, EMT certification or licensed nurses are preferred. Experience with summer camps preferred. Requirements include the ability to provide and monitor first aid and first response, maintain records, and hand off pertinent information to advance medical responders in the case of an emergency. Candidate must be able to communicate professionally and in a timely manner with visiting teachers and Pearlstone education staff.  The desire to participate meaningfully in Chesapeake Teva’s school and camp-like community is a must.

 

Applicants must like the outdoors, relate well with children and their teachers, confident in working with home-sick children, and be equipped to stand, sit, walk up to two miles on trails and accommodate any situation that may occur during the camp day! Candidates must have a valid Driver's License, proof of insurance, acceptable driving records and must meet agency standards with regards to reference checks, criminal background, and drug screening.

 

This is a temporary, day-time only, position: Tuesday, May 13 through Thursday, May 16th and Tuesday, May 20 through Friday, May 23. Hours vary depending on the day of the week. Compensation includes hourly compensation and all meals during work hours. Applicants only available for one of the weeks will be considered. Program Director
The Pearlstone Center

The Pearlstone Center is seeking an experienced and creative Program Director to embrace and actualize Pearlstone’s mission to ignite Jewish passion through immersive and innovative programming, living Judaism, and Jewish farm-based and environmental education.  The Program Director will be a member of Pearlstone’s senior management team, directing a growing department and overseeing a wide array of impactful Jewish experiential programs. 

Applicants must have a strong background in Jewish education, with a particular knowledge base in experiential methodologies and outdoor, nature-based education.  Familiarity and literacy in Jewish and environmental topics are essential to innovative curricular and program development.  

Ideal candidate must have at least five years of teaching experience in Jewish informal education, and three years of management experience. Highly developed leadership skills, including excellent verbal and written communication, are vital within the organization and as a representative of the Pearlstone Center to the broader community.

Facilities Associate
The Pearlstone Center

The Pearlstone Center, located in Reisterstown, is seeking a part-time/on-call Facility Associate to assist in the maintenance all aspects of the Center. This person will be involved in activities related to the care and appearance of the facility including: meeting rooms, common areas, dining areas, kitchen, lodging rooms, bathrooms, and maintenance and storage areas. Candidate will be called upon to participate in catering services including table setting, serving, dining room and light kitchen prep and clean-up. This is an on-call as needed position and the weekly schedule is flexible but will not exceed eighteen hours per week. 

Candidate must have the ability to pass a background check and drug screening. One year of similar work experience is helpful but not required and willingness to learn about the kosher food service industry.

Housekeeper
The Pearlstone Center

The Pearlstone Center seeks an energetic, hard-working individual to fill the position of part-time Housekeeper.  Pearlstone is a dynamic and multi-faceted retreat center with conference facilities and overnight accommodations. The Housekeeper cleans guest rooms, bathrooms and other common guest areas as necessary to retreat center standards of cleanliness. At times s/he must work quickly without sacrificing quality in order to prepare specific rooms for incoming guests. S/he must possess a solid work ethic with strong organizational and time-management skills, excellent attention to detail, good verbal and written communication skills in English, as well as provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor.  The retreat center is not close to public transportation so a personal vehicle will be necessary. 

Prior experience required, preferably in a hotel, retreat center or other commercial setting. This is a part-time position and is not eligible for benefits. Human Resources Internship
The Associated

This internship will provide practical job related experience to a college student who has interest in Human Resources (or related) field with an interest in working in the non-profit arena. This internship will take place in the spring and fall semesters.

Due to our steady growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a student intern to assist the Human Resources team in the Baltimore area. The student may work up to 15 hours per week during the spring and fall semesters. Responsibilities will include (but not limited to): 

  • Working under the supervision of the Vice President of Human Resources and Assistant Director of Human Resources
  • Attend Human Resources Agency wide meetings on a monthly basis
  • Assist with mailings and informational pieces to be distributed throughout the agencies
  • Maintaining up to date and accurate personnel files
  • Processing resumes (logging into resume database and sending letters)
  • Represent The Associated's Human Resources Department on a variety of levels
  • Other duties as assigned
