Senior Human Resources Benefit and Retirement Plan Associate

The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore has an immediate opening for a Senior Human Resources Benefit and Retirement Plan Associate. This is a full-time position that will provide professional and generalist support to the Human Resources Department focusing specifically on all aspects of benefit and retirement plan administration. Candidate will be responsible for HRIS administration, benefit billing, new hire benefit orientation, annual open enrollment, retirement plan administration and HRIS reporting.  Good communication, public speaking, computer and writing skills a must. Candidate must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or related plus a minimum of three to five years of experience in benefit administration and human resources. Human Resources Associate

The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore has an immediate opening for a Human Resources Associate. This is a full-time position that will provide professional and administrative support to the Human Resources Department. Candidate will be responsible for personnel file management and compliance, HRIS entries and reporting, management of background and motor vehicle check program, assistance with recruitment and onboarding, benefit and retirement plan administration support, administration of unemployment requests and billing, wellness program assistance and will provide customer service support for the department.  Good communication, computer and writing skills a must. Candidate must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.

Weekday Evening Shift Captain

The Pearlstone Center, located in Reisterstown, is seeking a full time Weekday Evening Shift Captain. Pearlstone is a dynamic and multi-faceted retreat center comprised of catering services, conference facilities and overnight accommodations. The Weekday Evening Shift Captain is responsible for overseeing the routine retreat center operations focused on food service and the overall cleanliness of the facility including: dining areas, kitchen, bathrooms, common areas, meeting rooms and lodging rooms. This person serves as the main point of contact on site for guests and must handle questions, concerns and requests appropriately related to all aspects of hospitality. This person is regularly responsible for closing the facility Monday-Thursday; the typical schedule of this position is 2:00 pm – 11:30 pm Monday through Thursday, but hours may vary depending on groups in house and retreat center needs. Candidate must possess a solid work ethic with strong organizational and time-management skills, excellent attention to detail, good verbal and written communication skills in English, as well as provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor.  Supervision experience in the hospitality industry is preferred. Chef/Mashgiach

The Pearlstone Center is seeking a full time Chef/Mashgiach.  Pearlstone is a dynamic and multi-faceted retreat center comprised of catering services, conference facilities and overnight accommodations. Under the supervision of the Executive Chef, this position is responsible for all phases of operation in the food service department.  Candidate will supervise and control administration of all Kashrut compliance issues, ensures quality preparation and presentation of all food.  Key responsibilities include contact with Star K, menu production, timely service and preparation for retreat center catering services including meals and snacks.

Candidate must possess a solid work ethic with strong organizational and time-management skills, excellent attention to detail, good verbal and written communication skills in English, as well as provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor.  The retreat center is not close to public transportation so a personal vehicle will be necessary. Teen Program Associate

The Jewish Volunteer Connection is immediately seeking a Teen Program Associate to lead teen service and leadership initiatives for middle school and high school students.  Candidate will develop and administer key programmatic areas while working closely with lay and professional staff in the Baltimore community to foster a strong culture of hands-on volunteerism and teen leadership.   Candidate will be a relationship builder and must have a passion for youth work, volunteerism and instilling Jewish values.

Administrative Assistant for Government and Community Relations

The Baltimore Jewish Council (BJC) is currently seeking a part time (18 hours per week) Administrative Assistant for Government and Community Relations. This position will aid and coordinate multiple Baltimore Jewish Council programs and will provide direct administrative support to the professional staff.  Additional duties will include developing marketing materials through outlets such as Constant Contact, updating the BJC website using HTML, donor database maintenance, and telephone call routing. The ideal candidate will have a creative eye, be poised, and possess excellent customer service and communications skills. This person is the initial point of contact for outside leadership and organizations, setting the tone for positive interactions between the BJC and community. Qualified candidates will have proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of social networking vehicles and website maintenance.

Semi-Skilled Home Weatherization Worker

Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc. (CHAI), a Baltimore based non-profit is currently looking for a semi-skilled Home Weatherization Worker.  Qualified individual will be familiar with all general aspects of home improvement and weatherization including framing, insulation installation, windows, caulking, tiling and a basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing work to weatherize and make other improvements to homes in Baltimore City and surrounding counties.  Weatherization work entails adding insulation, replacing doors and windows with skilled team member.

Home Energy Auditor

Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc.’s (CHAI) mission is to develop and support thriving and stable communities in neighborhoods with a substantial Jewish population in Baltimore City.  To advance this mission CHAI is currently seeking a Home Energy Auditor to appraise the improvement and weatherization needs of residential homes in greater Baltimore and other jurisdictions of Maryland.  The Home Energy Auditor will be responsible for conducting full screening audits by entering homes, attics, basements and crawl spaces to determine energy improvement needs. Candidate will capture data by interacting with the homeowner, inspecting the structure, conducting required tests and then making specific recommendations for weatherization and energy improvements. 

The Home Energy Auditor will have at least one year of experience in residential energy auditing.  BPI Certification required.   Qualified candidates will have a passion for the environment and community.  Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to pass background checks will be required.

Community Sustainability Director

The Pearlstone Center is seeking an experienced and creative Community Sustainability Director to lead a community-wide initiative to green the Baltimore Jewish community. Working with lay leaders, Pearlstone colleagues, and Jewish partner organizations throughout the community, the Community Sustainability Director will work to reduce waste and energy consumption while promoting recycling, energy efficiency, renewable energy, green cleaning products, and green building at Pearlstone and other Associated agencies, synagogues, Jewish businesses, and homes throughout the Baltimore region.  The Director will network with both Jewish and environmental organizations, striving to make connections between the two.  He/she will also identify funding sources for greening of Jewish institutions.  The Director will fulfill Pearlstone’s mission as a Green Center, assisting Green Schools in their efforts both programmatically and by greening their facility.  He/she will network with other Jewish environmental activists both locally and nationally, aiming to cultivate empowered sustainability leaders across the Baltimore Jewish community.

Applicants must have a strong background in greening of institutions, working with committees and partner organizations, and Jewish life.  Both environmental and Jewish literacy is essential to the job, as are community organizing skills. 

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of work experience in Jewish and/or environmental fields, with at least three years of community organizing experience. Facilities Associate

The Pearlstone Center, located in Reisterstown, is seeking a part-time/on-call Facility Associate to assist in the day to day operations at the Center. The two main areas of this position include food service and overall care and appearance of the facility including: meeting rooms, common areas, dining areas, kitchen, lodging rooms, bathrooms, and storage areas.

 

Candidate will be called upon to participate in catering services including table setting, serving, light kitchen prep and clean-up. Responsibilities will also entail housekeeping duties that include, but are not limited to, sanitizing and restocking bathrooms, vacuuming, window cleaning, and making beds.

 

Candidate must be extremely organized, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and possess the ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional customer service is a must. All candidates must have reliable transportation as no public transportation is nearby Center. 

 

This position does not include benefits. Work schedule is as need and flexible, but will not exceed eighteen hours per week. One year of similar work experience is helpful, but not required and willingness to learn about the kosher food service industry. Human Resources Internship
The Associated

This internship will provide practical job related experience to a college student who has interest in Human Resources (or related) field with an interest in working in the non-profit arena. This internship will take place in the spring and fall semesters.

Due to our steady growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a student intern to assist the Human Resources team in the Baltimore area. The student may work up to 15 hours per week during the spring and fall semesters. Responsibilities will include (but not limited to): 

  • Working under the supervision of the Vice President of Human Resources and Assistant Director of Human Resources
  • Attend Human Resources Agency wide meetings on a monthly basis
  • Assist with mailings and informational pieces to be distributed throughout the agencies
  • Maintaining up to date and accurate personnel files
  • Processing resumes (logging into resume database and sending letters)
  • Represent The Associated's Human Resources Department on a variety of levels
  • Other duties as assigned
