Human Resources Associate

Weekday Evening Shift Captain
The Pearlstone Center, located in Reisterstown, is seeking a full time Weekday Evening Shift Captain. Pearlstone is a dynamic and multi-faceted retreat center comprised of catering services, conference facilities and overnight accommodations. The Weekday Evening Shift Captain is responsible for overseeing the routine retreat center operations focused on food service and the overall cleanliness of the facility including: dining areas, kitchen, bathrooms, common areas, meeting rooms and lodging rooms. This person serves as the main point of contact on site for guests and must handle questions, concerns and requests appropriately related to all aspects of hospitality. This person is regularly responsible for closing the facility Monday-Thursday; the typical schedule of this position is 2:00 pm – 11:30 pm Monday through Thursday, but hours may vary depending on groups in house and retreat center needs. Candidate must possess a solid work ethic with strong organizational and time-management skills, excellent attention to detail, good verbal and written communication skills in English, as well as provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor. Administrative Assistant for Government and Community Relations
The Baltimore Jewish Council (BJC) is currently seeking a part time (18 hours per week) Administrative Assistant for Government and Community Relations. This position will aid and coordinate multiple Baltimore Jewish Council programs and will provide direct administrative support to the professional staff. Semi-Skilled Home Weatherization Worker
Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc. (CHAI), a Baltimore based non-profit is currently looking for a semi-skilled Home Weatherization Worker. Qualified individual will be familiar with all general aspects of home improvement and weatherization including framing, insulation installation, windows, caulking, tiling and a basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing work to weatherize and make other improvements to homes in Baltimore City and surrounding counties. Home Energy Auditor
Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc.’s (CHAI) mission is to develop and support thriving and stable communities in neighborhoods with a substantial Jewish population in Baltimore City. To advance this mission CHAI is currently seeking a Home Energy Auditor to appraise the improvement and weatherization needs of residential homes in greater Baltimore and other jurisdictions of Maryland. The Home Energy Auditor will be responsible for conducting full screening audits by entering homes, attics, basements and crawl spaces to determine energy improvement needs. Candidate will capture data by interacting with the homeowner, inspecting the structure, conducting required tests and then making specific recommendations for weatherization and energy improvements.

Community Sustainability Director
The Pearlstone Center is seeking an experienced and creative Community Sustainability Director to lead a community-wide initiative to green the Baltimore Jewish community. Working with lay leaders, Pearlstone colleagues, and Jewish partner organizations throughout the community, the Community Sustainability Director will work to reduce waste and energy consumption while promoting recycling, energy efficiency, renewable energy, green cleaning products, and green building at Pearlstone and other Associated agencies, synagogues, Jewish businesses, and homes throughout the Baltimore region. The Director will network with both Jewish and environmental organizations, striving to make connections between the two. He/she will also identify funding sources for greening of Jewish institutions. The Director will fulfill Pearlstone’s mission as a Green Center, assisting Green Schools in their efforts both programmatically and by greening their facility. He/she will network with other Jewish environmental activists both locally and nationally, aiming to cultivate empowered sustainability leaders across the Baltimore Jewish community.
Applicants must have a strong background in greening of institutions, working with committees and partner organizations, and Jewish life. Both environmental and Jewish literacy is essential to the job, as are community organizing skills.
The ideal candidate will have at least five years of work experience in Jewish and/or environmental fields, with at least three years of community organizing experience. Highly developed leadership skills, including excellent verbal and written communication, are vital within the organization and as a representative of the Pearlstone Center to the broader community. The Pearlstone Center, located in Reisterstown, is seeking a part-time/on-call Facility Associate to assist in the day to day operations at the Center. The two main areas of this position include food service and overall care and appearance of the facility including: meeting rooms, common areas, dining areas, kitchen, lodging rooms, bathrooms, and storage areas.
Candidate will be called upon to participate in catering services including table setting, serving, light kitchen prep and clean-up. Responsibilities will also entail housekeeping duties that include, but are not limited to, sanitizing and restocking bathrooms, vacuuming, window cleaning, and making beds.
Candidate must be extremely organized, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and possess the ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional customer service is a must. All candidates must have reliable transportation as no public transportation is nearby Center.
This position does not include benefits. Work schedule is as need and flexible, but will not exceed eighteen hours per week. One year of similar work experience is helpful, but not required and willingness to learn about the kosher food service industry.
